ReLISH: Reliable Label Inference via Smoothness Hypothesis

The smoothness hypothesis is critical for graph-based semi-supervised learning. This paper defines local smoothness, based on which a new algorithm, Reliable Label Inference via Smoothness Hypothesis (ReLISH), is proposed. ReLISH has produced smoother labels than some existing methods for both labeled and unlabeled examples. Theoretical analyses demonstrate good stability and generalizability o...

Control-Theoretic Analysis of Smoothness for Stability-Certified Reinforcement Learning

It is critical to obtain stability certificate before deploying reinforcement learning in real-world mission-critical systems. This study justifies the intuition that smoothness (i.e., small changes in inputs lead to small changes in outputs) is an important property for stability-certified reinforcement learning from a control-theoretic perspective. The smoothness margin can be obtained by sol...

A simple scheme for semi-recursive identification of Hammerstein system nonlinearity by Haar wavelets

A simple semi-recursive routine for nonlinearity recovery in Hammerstein systems is proposed. The identification scheme is based on the Haar wavelet kernel and possesses a simple and compact form. The convergence of the algorithm is established and the asymptotic rate of convergence (independent of the input density smoothness) is shown for piecewiseLipschitz nonlinearities. The numerical stabi...

Weak differentiability of solutions to SDEs with semi-monotone drifts

‎In this work we prove Malliavin differentiability for the solution to an SDE with locally Lipschitz and semi-monotone drift‎. ‎To prove this formula‎, ‎we construct a sequence of SDEs with globally Lipschitz drifts and show that the $p$-moments of their Malliavin derivatives are uniformly bounded‎.
